After months of speculation Melissa McCarthy has announced she has signed up to reprise her role as Sookie St. James, in Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival.
The actress revealed the exciting news to Ellen DeGeneres just hours after she got the nod.
“It is really exciting. There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn’t worked out.”
“They’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls which is a show which was near and dear to my heart for four years and we could not get those schedules to work. And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country.”
“I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.”
The 45-year-old delighted fans with the news, explaining with her busy schedule the creator of the show, Amy Sherman-Palladino made it work.
“Amy Sherman-Palladino is going to squeeze me in to do it and I’m very happy to go back to Stars Hollow.
The Bridesmaids actress played the role of Sookie St. James on the series, the best friend of Lorelai Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham.
Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Kelly Bishop are just a few stars returning for the revival.
