Matilda Rice speaks out in support of New Zealand’s abused animals

And the animal-loving Bachelor star needs your help.

Former Bachelor star Matilda Rice wants the country to get baking in support of New Zealand’s most vulnerable animals.

The newly-named Jockey ambassador has spoken out in support of the SPCA’s annual Cupcake Day.

“I’m a huge animal lover, and have grown up with lots of pets my whole life, as I’m sure a lot of New Zealanders have,” she told the Weekly.

“The SPCA is an organisation that’s very close to my heart. They rely on the public to keep them going, so it’s hugely important that we get behind them to support all the animals that have no voice.”

SPCA Cupcake Day, which is happening on August 15, is the charity’s community-driven annual fundraiser where cupcakes and other treats are baked and sold to raise funds for the organisation’s ongoing protection and care of animals that have been lost, abandoned and abused.

Each year more than 60,000 animals pass through the SPCA’s 46 shelters in need of food, shelter, medical treatment and assistance to find their loving forever home.

Animal lovers can register to be a ‘cupcake baker’ here and you can find a clever cupcake recipe, here.
