Marion Cotillard, Brad Pitt’s co-star in the upcoming spy thriller Allied, is said to be “absolutely devastated” by the rumours that she was the woman behind Brad’s split from Angelina Jolie.

Allied producer Graham King previously told People that the two stars had “electric” chemistry on set and threw themselves into their characters.

In the film, Brad plays a British intelligence officer, while Marion plays a French Resistance fighter posing as his wife. The undercover allies begin to develop a real romantic relationship whilst planning a high-profile assassination.

“Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric,” King told People.

Meanwhile, Angelina is rumoured to have hired an investigator to follow up on her suspicions that Brad was getting too close to the Oscar-winning French actress on set.

“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,” a source told The New York Post.

However, Marion has been in a relationship with fellow French actor Guillaume Canet since 2007 – and according to a source close to the couple, is “blissfully happy” with him. The couple have one son together, five-year-old Marcel Canet.

“These kinds of claims are not what Marion wants to be hearing,” the source told The Daily Mail.

“Claims that she’s cheating on Guillaume with Brad will leave her absolutely devastated. This doesn’t sound like her at all.”

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. According to the court documents, the couple had been separated since September 15.

The dramatic split comes two years after the pair tied the knot in a private ceremony in France. Angelina’s attorney, Robert Offer, released a statement explaining that her “decisions was made for the health of her family”.

TMZ reports that Angelina was concerned over Brad’s parenting and became “fed up” with his alleged issues with weed and possibly alcohol consumption, mixed with “what she believes is ‘an anger problem’”.
