The singing duo recently announced they are parting ways.

After two years together as country-pop act Mae Valley, Hannah Cosgrove and Abby Christodoulou will no longer be making music together.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the band wrote: “In life, things never seem to stay the same for too long.

“After an incredible two years, Hannah has decided to leave Mae Valley to pursue other adventures. Abby will continue with Mae Valley, and is excited to continue on and for the future ahead.

“Although Hannah has chosen a new route, we will be friends forever. Thanks for all the ongoing support everyone.”

The duo, who met after being paired up on the second season of The X Factor New Zealand in 2015, have been signed to Sony Music and released their debut self-titled EP earlier this year.

The surprising news was announced just days after they released the music video for their single “Turns Out”.

In February, they reflected on their two years together as a band, looking forward to “many more to go”.

“It has been a crazy, exciting, sleepless, thrilling, unbelievable ride and it’s so nice looking back on all the amazing things we have done and achieved together!” the girls wrote.

Abby, who hails from New Plymouth, and Hannah, originally from Hamilton, gushed about their instant bond when Woman’s Day caught up with them last year.

“I don’t think I’ve connected with someone so quickly – it’s like it was meant to be,” Hannah told us at the time. “We balance each other out, not just in our music but in life as well.”

With the duo vowing to stay friends despite the end of their days as a band, there’s sure to be more to come in the future from both singing stars.
