It was a wet and wild day in New Plymouth when ultramarathon runner Lisa Tamati married her perfect man, firefighter Haisley O’Leary, but the weather cleared up just long enough for Woman’s Day to take some wedding snaps on a driftwood-strewn black-sand beach.
“I’m so lucky and proud to call this man my husband,” said endurance athlete, jewellery designer and best-selling author Lisa, 48, in her speech. “It took me 45 years to find him, but I’ve never felt so at-home and so loved.”
The sporty pair surprised guests with a fun choreographed first dance to Pharrell’s “Happy” and Lisa – who ran the length of New Zealand in 2009 – also took to the mic to sing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. For the full romantic story, see our latest issue.
