Posting a cosy photo of the pair with their arms wrapped around each other, Lady Gaga explained that she and her actor beau have “always believed we are soulmates” and seemed to blame their busy work schedules for keeping them apart.
“Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared,” she wrote.
“Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”

The statement comes shortly after the pair were widely rumoured to have called an end to their five-year romance yesterday, after several weeks of the popstar being spotted out and about without her distinctive engagement ring on her finger.
Gaga and Taylor met on the set of her music video for ‘You and I’ in 2011, where Taylor played the superstar singer’s love interest. Four years later, on Valentine’s Day, the hunky actor went down on one knee to propose to Gaga with a dazzling heart-shaped engagement ring.

The couple were often spotted on the red carpet together as Taylor proudly supported his fiancee. At the Golden Globes earlier this year, Gaga revealed that Taylor had turned down an opportunity to present at the awards – where Gaga was named Best Actress in a Limited Series for her work in American Horror Story: Hotel – to ensure the night was all about her.
“Isn’t that special? I just found that out,” Gaga told reporters on the night.
“I love him so much.”
