Kylie Bax, 41, hosts the fashion segment of Kiwi Living on TV One. She lives on a Cambridge farm with her three children.
A quote that always motivates me is… “What goes around comes around.” It reminds me that if something doesn’t work out quite right, I’ll eventually have another chance at it.
When I’m working hard I unwind by… Being on my farm. I have a few horses and being here brings me down to earth and helps me release tension. You can’t help but relax when you are among animals and birds and nature. I don’t think my kids know how lucky they are to live here.
My most prized possession is… A little silver watch that was given to me by Tom Ford in my 20s – that’s pretty special to me.
The song that makes me dance is… I love pop and rock but I also have a lot of children’s songs in my head because of my kids! At the moment I really like Selena Gomez’s song I can’t keep my hands to myself.
The childhood memory I’ll always treasure is… I grew up in Thames, a small town that was once one of the biggest goldmining towns in New Zealand. There are lots of places where you can walk through the bush and see old mine shafts and bits of quartz. My father used to take my sister, brother and I on bush-walks and tell us half-true stories – he made it a lot of fun.
If you could bring someone back from the dead… It would be Princess Di. If she’d had more time, she’d have been able to really focus on her charity work and benefit a lot more people.
A perfect evening with my friends is… At home with my girlfriends having a casual dinner and glass of wine. My partying days are over; I enjoy quality friends, conversation and a nice wine.
The last movie I loved was… You will laugh – Fifty Shades of Grey. It was very well done. I also love comedy and action movies.
A winter destination I love is… Aspen, Colorado, for a skiing holiday. It is magical; ‘villagey’ but high-end with wonderful nooks and crannies.
My advice to my 16-year-old self would be… In retrospect, I think the 16-year-old should give the 41-year-old advice, but I would say, “Don’t go out of your way looking for love, love will find you.”
The quality I most value in my friends is… Their continual support – true friends are there in the most difficult moments of your life when you just can’t pick yourself up and need somebody to be there 100 per cent.
My signature dish is… Moussaka. I cook a lot of Greek food.
The people I most admire are… My parents. They are still together after all these years, and have built their own little empire together. They are such great team-mates – they support each another and are a really great example of ‘husband and wife’.
