Silver Ferns star Kayla Cullen has been crowned Favourite NZ/Australia Sports Star at the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, besting fellow nominees Richie McCaw, Aussie soccer player Tim Cahill and surfer Mick Fanning.
The talented netballer, who recently went public with her romance with Warriors star Shaun Johnson, was overjoyed to receive the gong.
“Wow thanks @Nickelodeon_AU guttered I couldn’t get slimed,” she wrote on Twitter, passing along her thanks to everyone who voted.
The victory places Kayla in star-studded company, with other 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards winners including Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber.
Country singer and The Voice judge Blake Shelton hosted this year’s ceremony, while Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas pitched in for the event’s opening number.
This isn’t the only accolade Kayla’s won since emerging as a rising star of the Silver Ferns – the gorgeous midcourter was also named the Woman’s Day People’s Choice award winner at last year’s New Zealand Netball Awards.
