During an appearance on The Late Late Show on Tuesday, Katherine Heigl revealed to James Corden that she once lied about being romantically involved with John Mayer.
“Is it true that John Mayer was involved in your courtship?” asked James.
In a hilarious confession, the actress and mother-of-three explained that prior to marrying her husband Josh Kelley, she pretended that she was dating John, to make Josh jealous.
“Josh and I were probably dating about a month, and it was unclear where the relationship was going.”
In an attempt to test out the waters and see whether or not Josh wanted to be exclusive, she pretended that she was dating John on the side, even though they were “just friends.”
“I had run into John, who was in town, making a record or something. We were just hanging out, having drinks, having dinners, as friends. He wasn’t interested in me at all,” she emphasized. “But Josh didn’t know that.”
While the fibbing worked out in the end — the two have been married nearly 10 years and have three beautiful children — Katherine went on to admit that to this day, Josh still thinks she had a thing for John.
