Glamorous Dynasty star Dame Joan Collins has paid a loving tribute to her “courageous and selfless” sister Jackie, who passed away on September 19 after a private six-and-a-half year battle with breast cancer.

Jackie, who was known as the Queen of Steam for her racy novels, kept her illness a secret and confided only in her three daughters – Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46. Even her older sister Joan was kept in the dark until recently.

It was a move typical of the 77-year-old novelist, who was determined to live life in her own way. In her last interview before her death, Jackie had a very poignant remark to share about how she believed in celebrating someone’s life, rather than mourning their death – and in her emotional essay for the Mail on Sunday, Jackie’s sister Joan has promised to do exactly that.

“I don’t think I will ever recover from the sadness of losing my beautiful baby sister,” Joan wrote.

“In her inimitable way she had more concern for others than for herself to the end, and anyone who knew Jackie will tell you how courageous and selfless she was.

“She will live on in the wonderful memories I have of her from our childhood and particularly from the last 15 years,” she continued.

“I feel her spirit, I hear her wonderful laugh and I see her all the time in the hundreds of photos of her sprinkled around my home. She wasn’t just a star – to me she was an entire galaxy.”
