Yesterday actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba appeared on The Today Show to promote her new film Mechanic: Resurrection.
After discussing the film, the conversation quickly moved on to the lawsuits that Jessica’s brand The Honest Company has faced in recent months.
The lawsuits include a claim that the Honest Company sunscreen is ineffective, resulting in some customers tweeting photographsof what they claim is sunburn after using the product.
“It’s just a headline, really, because when you look into any of it, they’re baseless. There’s no merit behind any of it,” said Jessica.
Other claims include false labeling, alleging that the products contain unnatural and toxic ingredients.
In the interview on The Today Show, Jessica defended the charges, and suggested that the criticism her company has faced is due to her celebrity profile.
“If I was in their position, I probably would try to put a spotlight on my cause, and there’s no easier way than someone like me. I’m an easy target and our brand is an easy target, obviously, because I get different kind of attention than other brands would. It’s just sort of what happens,” she said.
The actress and mum of two is confident in her brand, and defended her products on the show.
“We stand by our ingredients, the effectiveness of the products, and we’re pretty optimistic that we’re going to win every case.”
