After just four months of dating, fledgling lovebirds Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch have confirmed their engagement in a newspaper article.

The Times, which is owned by Rupert’s News Corporation, published a classified advertisement in the paper’s Births, Marriages and Deaths section confirming the news.

“Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger are delighted to announce their engagement,” the ad read.

The upcoming union marks the fourth marriage for Rupert and the first for Jerry, after her ceremony with Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger was ruled invalid after their 1999 split.

According to The Times announcement, the pair got engaged over the weekend. They appeared hand-in-hand at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (US time), although there was no ring visible on Jerry’s hand on the red carpet.

“They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future,” a Murdoch family spokesperson said.

The news comes just two months after the duo made their first public appearance together at the Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham. They were seen laughing and chatting to each other during the match, with Rupert even kissing Jerry on the cheek at one point.

At the time, a source told The Mirror that the 84-year-old media mogul was “smitten” with the blonde bombshell.

“He’s very happy because she makes him laugh and they get along so well. They’re having a great time together.”

Jerry and Rupert were introduced to one another through Rupert’s sister and niece, two years after he called it quits with ex-wife Wendi Deng.
