It’s double trouble for our favourite sports presenter, Jenny-May Clarkson!
The former Silver Fern and her husband Dean welcomed their twin boys last week, slightly ahead of their due date.
“We are all doing well – or should I say ‘surviving’!” says a thrilled Jenny-May. “Despite the sleep deprivation and round the clock care (and constant worry as a first time mum), we absolutely adore our handsome boys.”
It’s been a whirlwind year for Jenny-May (nee Coffin) and Dean, who met by chance in Auckland in February 2015.
It was truly a case of love at first sight and just 11 days later, Dean got down on one knee for a memorable proposal.
When Jenny-May, 41, walked down the aisle seven months later she was sporting a wee secret – she was just shy of the 12-week-mark, carrying twins.
“Even though there are three sets of twins in my family!” she laughs. “I’d never thought about that, though – two of my brothers and one of my brother’s sons have twins!” she told the *New Zealand Woman’s Weekly when the couple announced their pregnancy.
The new additions are baby brothers to Dean’s daughters Libby-Jane (10) and Leah (8), from his previous marriage.
Jenny-May’s journey through pregnancy has been documented on Whanau Living TV One, Weekdays at 9am. But her unborn bubs hit the headlines for other reasons earlier this year, when a Lower Hutt man called her an “eyesore” in a letter published in the TV Guide.
John Rook, who wrote the letter, questioned who had allowed a presenter in “a very pregnant state” to be on screen. The comments sparked an outpouring of support for Jenny-May online, and Mr Rook later apologised for his letter, saying he was “out of touch”.
