With close to three decades in the spotlight, the beloved Friends actress has played her part to a tee… but now Jen is standing up for what she believes and fighting back against her critics.
Following her powerful essay, titled For the Record, which she penned in July for the a Huffington Post, Jennifer is speaking out about the harsh judgement of women in society in a candid new cover interview with US magazine, Marie Claire.
Jen left nothing off the table during her chat with Marie Claire.
“My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed,” she expressed, speaking of her marriage to Justin Theroux and her split with Brad Pitt back in 2005.
“It’s like, ‘Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?’” she mused.
“I just thought: ‘I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.’”
Despite the fascination that has constantly circled her personal life, Jen is focusing on the positives. And there’s one huge one, her husband.
The actress couldn’t help but sing Justin’s praises.
“Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state,” she said of the 45-year-old The Girl on the Train star.
“There’s no part of me that I don’t feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much. And he’s such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him.”

For now, the Hollywood beauty is taking her time to figure out what she wants next.
“This is a time when I’m not completely sure what I’m doing,” she told the magazine.
“I’m at this sort of crossroads trying to figure out what inspires me deep in my core. What used to make me tick is not necessarily making me tick anymore… The most challenging thing right now is trying to find what it is that makes my heart sing.”
