Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana have called it quits.

The couple, who welcomed son Eissa (their first child) together on January 3, tied the knot in 2012. Qatari businessman Wissam, 41, is Janet’s third husband – she was previously married to singer James DeBarge and dancer Rene Elizondo.

A close friend of Janet’s told [The Mail on Sunday](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4393934/Janet-Jackson-splits-Qatari-tycoon-husband.html|target=”_blank that the couple’s split was “amicable”, with Eissa set to stay with his mother in their London home.

Janet is reportedly staying in London with the couple’s son Eissa, who was born on January 3.

“Sadly, Janet and Wissam have decided that it wasn’t working and to go their separate ways,” the source said.

“They’re both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they’re apart.”

The low-key couple have largely avoided the spotlight since getting together. There was plenty of speculation that Janet had converted to Islam at the time of her marriage to Wissam, as she was seen wearing a head scarf, but Janet herself never confirmed the rumours.

In April last year, Janet postponed her world tour to make the announcement that she was planning a family with Wissam.

“Please, if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now,” she told fans in a video message posted to Facebook.

“I have to rest up, doctor’s orders! But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

At the time, a source told Us that the “When I Think Of You” singer was “so excited for the baby to come”.

“She feels like this is one of the best things to ever happen to her, she says. She’s really excited to become a mom.”
