Like any new parent with know, babies can be stubborn little sleepers. Whether it’s sleeping all day and waking at night, or just refusing to go down for more than an hour at a time, new parents know the pain of the night time feeds.

And Jamie Oliver, who welcomed his fifth child with wife Jools last month, has revealed his novel way of attempting to get baby River back to sleep.

Taking to Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Jamie wrote: “Hanging out with my boy with a bottle of the wife’s finest…

“Ah the 2am feed underrated quality time haha. Just trying Gold by Spandau ballet to get him off again but I think he’s enjoying it too much.”

A sleepy looking River can be seen lying in his doting father’s arms, as Jamie gives him some bottled breast milk rather than wake his wife.

Last week, Jamie took to social media to officially confirm his new son’s name, River Rocket Oliver.

“We think it suits him,” the dad of five wrote on Instagram. “Thanks for all your kind wishes big love Jamie and gang.”

Since welcoming baby River in August, Jamie has been frequently sharing snaps of his pride and joy, including photos of his very first bathtime.

But although the besotted dad is very much a hands on father, he’s also been hard at work, spending days away from the brood as he looks after his chain of restaurants and launches his new book Super Food Family Classics.
