It’s a special sporty wedding issue of Woman’s Day this week, with the gorgeous big days of All Black Sam Whitelock and former Warriors star Kevin Locke gracing the cover.
Crusaders star Sam wed his university sweetheart Hannah Lawton at Christchurch’s Pemberton Gardens, in front of 172 guests, including his athletic brothers – former All Black George, Highlander Luke and former Crusader Adam – as well as his All Black team-mates Keiran Read, Luke Romano, Aaron Smith, Joe Moody, Owen Franks, Matt Todd and Wyatt Crockett.
“It’s been such a cool day, having friends and family so close, and getting married is pretty special,” Sam tells Woman’s Day. “I’m still getting used to saying ‘wife’! I’m just going to roll with it and see how it goes. Now, apparently, she’s always right and I’m always wrong!”
Meanwhile, rugby league star Kevin Locke, tied the knot with Australian netballer Chelsea Pitman at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, where they exchanged vows in front of family and friends, as well as giraffes and elephants.
“True love is trusting that people have your back,” Kevin said in his groom’s speech. “I know that Chelsea supports me 100% and you can’t ask for anything more.”
