While the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel is due for release in only three months, there’s been some talk that leading man Jamie Dornan could be replaced by The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder.

Fifty Shades Darker is the second instalment in the erotic romance trilogy that follows a passionate relationship between university graduate, Anastasia Steele, and tormented business mogul Christian Grey.

Jamie Dornan stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to address the rumours, and clear things up once and for all.

“Supposedly, I heard that Ian Somerhalder is replacing you in that,” Jimmy asked Jamie.

“Do you know anything about that? Is that true?”

“That would be really hard for them to do, considering we shot both of the movies,” joked the actor.

“That’s an expensive mistake, I’ll put it that way. But good luck to him—he’ll be great!”

The married father-of-one also opened up about the overwhelming fan attention he has received since taking on the role of Christan Grey.

“There’s a sort of energy in the eyes,” he revealed, describing the way he differentiates fans of his TV series The Fall and fans of Fifty Shades. “It’s like a hunger and you can sort of see it and smell it… It’s terrifying.”

The film will premiere on February 9th, 2017.
