In news that is sure to disappoint her many fans, Brazilian supermodel Gisele has officially announced her runway retirement.

The mother-of-two told a local Brazilian paper that she knew it was time to stop after listening to her body.

“Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop,” she said, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

“I respect my body, it’s a privilege to be able to stop.”

Perhaps fittingly, Gisele is set to finish up her runway career this week at Sao Paulo Fashion Week, in her homeland of Brazil – but that’s not to say the model will be out of work completely!

Thanks to a highly successful career in the fashion industry, she consistently tops the list of highest-paid models and as recently as last year, Forbes named her the 89th most powerful woman in the world. In 2014 alone, Gisele booked at least 16 campaigns, including a high-profile gig as the new face of Chanel’s iconic No. 5 fragrance.

With all that in mind, Gisele won’t be retiring completely. The Brazilian beauty has plenty of print and commercial campaigns to keep her busy, as well as her own lingerie line and other projects.
