After a whirlwind courtship, lovebirds Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are said to have called it quits.
The photogenic duo reportedly battled plenty of rocky periods throughout their seven-month-long relationship, but a source tells E! the couple could eventually reconcile.
“Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now,” the source revealed. “They have been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”

The pair, who were first linked together in November last year, have enjoyed a high-profile relationship over the past few months. Gigi first turned heads as the star in Zayn’s video for his single ‘Pillowtalk’, which featured the two sharing a steamy kiss in front of the cameras – although at the time, they denied all rumours of an off-screen romance.
Later, after they confirmed they were an item, Gigi took her beau along for a romantic Vogue photo shoot in Italy that made the most of the couple’s natural chemistry. Zayn and Gigi also made a stunning pair at the 2016 Met Gala in New York, where the model showed off her trim figure in a sheer gown as Zayn donned a metal robot-like arm in keeping with the night’s theme.

However, during Gigi’s 21st birthday bash earlier this year, the cracks were already beginning to appear. Sources reported that the couple were fighting during the celebrations, and they are thought to have broken up and gotten back together more than once over the course of their relationship.
“Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out. It’s more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close,” E!’s source says.
Before dating Gigi, Zayn was previously engaged to Little Mix songstress Perrie Edwards, while Gigi has dated a string of musicians including Cody Simpson and Joe Jonas in the past.

The split news comes just one day after Gigi’s BFF Taylor Swift was reported to have broken up with her beau, DJ and music producer Calvin Harris.
Calvin, 32, took to Twitter earlier today to release his own statement on the sad news, writing, “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.”
Taylor later retweeted his words from her own official account.
