Gemma McCaw, former Black Stick and Olympian, has joined SKY Sport as part of an all-female commentary team.

Gemma will be hosting the coverage of the Women’s Hockey World League Final this month.

Director of SKY sport, Richard Last, thinks Gemma will be a great addition to the commentary team.

“We’re extremely happy to welcome Gemma into the SKY Sport team. Having played 246 games for the Black Sticks she will no doubt be an incredibly valuable part of the commentary team, able to offer insights that only an ex-player would have,” he said.

“We think she’s going to do a fantastic job and I’m sure Kiwis will really embrace her being a part of our coverage.”

Gemma, who is also a columnist for Woman’s Day, is delighted to become a part of the team.

“This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of SKY Sport’s coverage of this great tournament. When this opportunity presented itself after recently retiring, I jumped at the chance to be involved and I can’t wait to get stuck in with this awesome team!” she says.

The Hockey World League Final will take place at North Harbour Hockey Stadium in Auckland between 17-26 November.

It will be live on SKY Sport 4.

Meanwhile, Gemma’s hubby Richie McCaw, is preparing to compete once again in the GODzone adventure race which he completed in 2016.

Talk about a power couple!

Congratulations, Gemma.
