Thousands of angry music fans have banded together to ask Glastonbury organisers to 'cancel' Kanye's headlining gig
26,000 supporters beg Glastonbury Festival to drop Kanye West

The festival announced Kanye as the headlining act on Monday and the news has already led to online backlash.

A petition on Change.org started by UK resident Neil Lonsdale has gained 26,244 supporters and asks to ‘cancel Kanye West’s headline slot and get a rock band’.

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment,” Neil wrote in the petition.

“Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving! Let’s prevent this musical injustice now!”

It’s worth noting that pop, hip hop, rap and R&B acts often get a hard time from fans at the festival, with a similar controversy erupting around the announcement of Jay Z’s gig in 2008 and Beyonce’s in 2011.
