Father’s plea after son killed by suspected drink driver

The son of MMA fighter Marcus Kowal was killed when the driver hit his stroller.

A devastated father has pleaded with potential drink drivers to think twice about their actions – after his 15-month-old son was tragically killed by a suspected drunk driver.

MMA fighter Marcus Kowal, who is based in America, lost his son Liam this week when a car careered into the stroller he was being pushed in.

The driver, a 72-year-old woman, drove off after hitting the child, but was stopped by passers-by. She then allegedly failed a sobriety test.

When Liam arrived at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for treatment, he was declared brain dead, and his parents were forced to turn his life support off.

The young boy’s 15-year-old aunt, who was pushing Liam at the time of the accident, received serious injuries but doctors believe she will recover.

The accused drunk driver, Donna Marie Higgins, has been arrested on suspicion of “felony drunk driving and felony hit-and-run,” according to InTouch Weekly.

Kowal has since taken to Facebook and Instagram to express his sorrow over his son’s death, sharing a heartbreaking image of his son’s battered hand in his, plus the tag declaring his death.

Just hours after saying goodbye to his son in hospital, Marcus uploaded a video pleading with people not to drink and drive.

He told PEOPLE magazine: “I have never felt more pain. Nothing comes even remotely close to this. Nothing.”
