It’s baby joy for All Black captain Kieran Read!
Sharing his happy news exclusively in this week’s issue of New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, the All Black legend and his gorgeous wife Bridget are thrilled to be expecting their third child.
“We’re stoked,” says an excited Kieran. “It’s a great way to finish the family.”
Kieran and Bridget are already proud parents to daughters Elle (5) and four-year-old Eden, who are both looking forward to welcoming a baby brother or sister.
And, the family is thankful that they’ve been a bit luckier with the timing of this pregnancy, after Kieran missed Eden’s birth in 2012 by a mere 10 minutes. He was in Wellington at the time, preparing for a test match against Argentina, when Bridget called to let him know Eden was on the way 11 days early. Hightailing it back to Christchurch, he was only minutes too late. But he’s looking forward to being by Bridget’s side this time, with the newest Read is set to arrive well after rugby season finishes.

Looking radiant at the 20-week mark, Bridget says she’s feeling pretty good after a rough first trimester.
Of course, Kieran isn’t around too much at the moment with a packed All Black schedule, but the Cantabrians aren’t complaining, telling New Zealand Woman’s Weekly that they can’t quite believe how many amazing things have happened at once, from Kieran taking over the All Black captaincy from mate Richie McCaw, lifting the Bledisloe Cup last month, and of course, bub number three.
“There’s been so many good times at once, it’s been awesome,” he tells.
Be sure to pick up this week’s must-read New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, featuring six pages of gorgeous photos of the young family, plus all the details about Kieran and Bridget’s impending arrival – including how Bridget told Kieran he was going to be a dad again, and Kieran’s surprising (and slightly nerdy!) hobbies.
