Ed Sheeran won’t be taking any more photographs… on his iPhone anyway.

The British singer announced via Instagram on Sunday night that “I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while”.

“I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes,” he revealed.

After performing 179 shows, Ed’s final concert for his Multiply world tour was at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday, where he also announced it would be his last gig for a while.

“One more show on the Multiply tour then I’m buggering off for a while, Auckland stadium tomorrow! What a way to end it,” the 24-year-old tweeted.

As a tribute to the late rugby legend Jonah Lomu who died last month, Ed performed in an All Blacks jersey for his only New Zealand show – which was, of course, emblazoned with Jonah’s number 11 on his back.

So what’s next for Ed?

He’s taking a break to have ear surgery and “I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed,” he wrote.

We’ll miss you, Ed! Don’t be gone too long.
