Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard has revealed the touching tattoo tribute she underwent for her husband Jon.

The actress, who plays landlady Liz McDonald in the soap, got an inking of comedy and tragedy masks tattooed over a musical score – alongside the date of the couple’s wedding in 2010.

Beverley, 59, has long been open about her struggle with depression, and in September revealed she’d been told she had bipolar disorder.

“The way he [her psychiatrist] explained it to me is that I don’t get these amazing highs or hallucinations but I get the tremendous lows so I don’t get the good bits I get the bad bits,” she told the presenters of This Morning.

It’s thought her tattoo, which shows the extremes of emotion often associated with bipolar, could be in reference to her disorder – as well as her choice of career.

Her husband Jon also has a tribute tattoo to his wife, of her name across a heart motif.

The Coro star was forced to take time off from the soap in March, after the meds she usually takes for her condition were discontinued.
