At first glance these photos of a stranger lurking around model and expectant mum Chrissy Teigen – and then making a grab for her – look pretty suspect. What on earth is he doing? Why is he leaning in so close? And why is he TOUCHING her?
The whole scenario, which happened as the model stepped out onto the road in Soho, New York City, earlier this week does look a little creepy.
But as it turns out, the passerby was actually saving Chrissy Teigen, who is pregnant with her second child, from being run over. He grabbed her just as she was about to step out into the path of an oncoming cyclist.
Twitter followers saw the pictures and at first assumed the worst.
“What a creeper – where is your security,” one follower commented.
But Chrissy put them right, replying in a tweet,”Nah he actually saved me from getting run over by a cyclist. I should have looked before stepping out!”
This is not the first time Chrissy has had a close call on the road. Last year she was the passenger of a car that was involved in a hit and run car accident.
Thankfully, Chrissy walked away uninjured and the guilty party was arrested. She later tweeted to her 3.99 million followers, “Got hit by a speeding loon while turning and he fled but cops were right there…”
“Not a big deal. I’m good!”
Tapping into her signature wit, she added, “I got out of the car and was like phew that was kind of a boring day anyhow.”
So the big lesson for today is look before you step out on to the road. Always.
