Chris, 27, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, after an hours-long standoff with the LAPD at his California home. He was released from jail at around 11.15pm (US time), after posting $250,000 bail, according to multiple reports.

The police presence was sparked by a 911 call where a woman claimed the singer had threatened her with a gun.

The woman, Baylee Curran, claims she and a friend went to Chris’ house along with a business associate to ‘talk about future projects’. Baylee – who was named Miss California Regional 2016 before being dethroned in July due to a “breach of contract” – claims she was admiring some of the pricey jewellery inside Chris’ home when the singer allegedly became aggressive.

“I don’t know if it was Chris’ friend or how he was related, but that’s when he told me to back away from the diamond necklace and started cussing me out and calling me names,” she told the Los Angeles Times.

Baylee says she was made to wait at the gate for her phone, which she had handed over before entering the house. After being told she could only have the phone back if she signed a nondisclosure agreement, she refused, snatched the phone up and fled to a neighbour’s property along with her friend.

According to the Times, the neighbour eventually called the police. Shortly afterwards, officers arrived and waited outside the house while a search warrant was arranged – meanwhile, Chris had taken to Instagram to share a series of videos claiming he was innocent.

“So I’m asleep half the damn night and I just wake up, and all these … helicopter choppers is around, police out there at the gate. What the f—- else do you want from me, bro? I stay out of the way, I take care of my daughter, do work.

“Good luck. When you get the warrant or whatever you need to do, you’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing, you idiots,” he said.

After several hours, the police finally entered the home and Chris was arrested without protest. His arraignment in court is scheduled for September 20.

“Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false,” Chris’ attorney, Mark Geragos, tweeted after the singer was released from jail.

In an earlier television appearance, Mr Geragos said they were “cooperating”.

“There is no truth to it and we’re going to let it play out.”

Singer Ray J, who was at Chris’ house during the standoff, has since recorded a video speaking out against what happened.

“I’m not happy with how things are handled, and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be,” he said.

“It’s just not right. It shouldn’t be like this,” he said.
