Celebrity mums and their bizarre parenting habits

These confessions will leave you scratching your head.

Raising kids is a struggle, something even celebrity mums know all too well. And in today’s world, mummy-shaming is something that comes from every direction. Well, mainly from complete strangers on Instagram or Twitter whose opinions don’t really matter, right?

But sometimes, celebrities really give us no choice but to sit here scratching our heads, wondering “whaaaat?!” in regards to their more unusual parenting styles. From Christina Aguilera to Katie Holmes, they’ve all admitted to super unique and — dare we say — rather weird parenting methods when it comes to raising their children.

Christina Aguilera surrounds her son with images of female nudes.

“I think it’s important that he sees mommy not be ashamed for her sexuality. I mean, he’s two. We’re art collectors, there are a lot of female nudes around the house. Max will be growing up in a house where it’s just the norm,” she once said.

Gwyneth Paltrow only let her kids watch shows in French and Spanish.

The famous mom is pretty determined to have her kids learn different languages. “Apple was cross as I only let them watch TV in French or Spanish. When I’m in France, I go to Boulevard Beaumarchais and buy all their cartoons,” she said.

Alanis Morissette is willing to breastfeed her kids until they’re as old as six.

“Some kids naturally stop at two, some stop at a couple of years later, it’s up to the child. I will stop when he says it’s time to stop,” she said about her son, Ever.

Pamela Anderson is totally fine with her sons doing drugs.

Most parents prefer to have their kids stay away from drugs and alcohol, but Pamela is the exact opposite when it comes to her sons. “We want them to practice safe sex, drink and experiment with drugs in moderation,” she said.

Gisele Bündchen practices elimination communication.

The model decided to potty train her son Benjamin from birth, so she carried him around completely naked to practice elimination communication. Or in other words, she’d hold him over a toilet whenever he had to go.

That’s a lot of commitment!

Mayim Bialik breastfeeds her kids on demand.

“It’s not for everyone to breastfeed a toddler,” The Big Bang Theory actress confesses. “I never expected to breastfeed a toddler. Given our family, there’s nothing wrong with breastfeeding [my son] Fred.”

Alicia Silverstone feeds her son with her mouth.

The actress posted a video of herself pre-chewing her son Bear’s food and then feeding him mouth to mouth.

“He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating. This video was taken about a month or 2 ago when he was a bit wobbly. Now he is grabbing my mouth to get the food!” she said.

Katie Holmes Tom Cruise Suri Cruise Bottle

Katie Holmes let her then-three-and-a-half-year-old drink with a baby bottle.

She was once spotted on the set of her movie The Romantics bottle feeding her daughter, Suri, when she was three and a half years old — that’s way past the recommended age to wean kids off the bottle.

Madonna doesn’t let her kids read or watch the news.

The pop star once left a lengthy list of rules for her ex, Guy Ritchie when he had to take care of them. One of the rules on the list was reportedly that they couldn’t read newspapers or magazines, and they couldn’t watch TV or DVDs.
