Flamboyant pop star Boy George has slammed Toni Street on Twitter after storming out of a filmed interview for Seven Sharp.

Street was conducting an interview with the Culture Club singer ahead of the group’s two scheduled New Zealand shows in December, when he ripped his microphone off and left the room.

The pop star tantrum came when Street asked questions about George’s conviction for assault and falsely imprisoning a male escort in 2009.

“You know what, why don’t you move on to something more helpful, you know what I mean?” he said, before storming out.

He has now hit back at Street on Twitter.

His group’s Christchurch show has since been cancelled, something the singer puts down to a lack of interest.

Street told viewers she was “shocked” by George’s reaction.

“I was genuinely shocked when that happened, because we had had such a good interview up until that point,” she said.

“There was nothing that led me to believe that he was even remotely uncomfortable talking about it.

“It was a real shame because he was very likeable.”
