Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ love story

From when they met, to their first date, to walking down the aisle - this pair are just too much.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are on of the most attractive couples in Hollywood, but they also appear to be one of the most loved up – looking inseparable at every red carpet appearance.

The pair, that met while filming Green Lantern in 2010, have quite the love story…

When Blake and Ryan met, Blake was dating her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley and Ryan was married to Scarlett Johansson (remember that?).

Nevertheless, as this picture suggests, the pair got along famously on the set of Green Lantern. Ryan later said that they were “buddies” at the time.

Fastforward a few months and Blake broke it off with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Penn Badgley, while Ryan’s marriage got into trouble.

In October 2010, Ryan accepted the Most Anticipated Movie trophy for Green Lantern, which Blake presented.

Sadly at the same time rumours surfaced that Scarlett and Ryan’s marriage was on the rocks. In December 2010, they filed for divorce.

Blake and Ryan appeared together at WonderCon in 2011.

Blake and Ryan appeared together at WonderCon press conference, discussing The Green Lantern and joking with each other, right after Ryan had discussed the possibility of getting married again one day. “There’s optimism,” he said. “How can there not be? I don’t think I want to get married again, but you always reevaluate these things.”

Not long after her WonderCon appearance, Blake jetted off to Europe and was seen all over the continent hanging out with Leonardo DiCaprio. But despite rumours they were an item, Blake’s affections lay elsewhere.

Blake and Ryan reunited at the Green Lantern premiere, looking very close indeed. Ryan’s divorce was finalised on the first of July.

Years after the event, Ryan revealed the details of him and Blake’s first date, which happened around this time in 2011.

“I remember it was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had [finished filming], we were both single. We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date [from their perspective] probably because we were just like fireworks coming across.”

In October 2011, we finally saw signs of Blake and Ryan’s budding relationship. Blake was spotted sneaking out of Ryan’s New York apartment in the early hours of his birthday weekend. By now, sources close to the couple were gushing with confirmation – “they’re really happy together,” they confirmed.

In November, Blake was spotted taking their dogs to visit Ryan on the set of R.I.P.D inbetween Gossip Girl filming.

By December, Ryan was taking Blake to meet his family in Vancouver, Canada.

The happy couple were regularly seen out in public by January, hanging out in New Orleans, where Ryan had a country home from his previous marriage. By the 4th of July, the pair were putting on PDAs in their togs at Blake’s family home in New York.

After around a year of dating, the happy couple tied the knot in a South Carolina location that was featured in several scenes from The Notebook. Their wedding was a beautiful affair, from her “cloudlike” Marchesa gown, to the Lorraine Schwartz wedding bands, to the tiered wedding cake. Blake’s co-stars from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, and America Ferrera, were also in attendance.

Blake couldn’t help tell everyone about how pleased she was to be married. “Right now, I’m so peaceful, I’ve never been happier in my life” she said. In December, after she had finished shooting the last season of Gossip Girl, Ryan and Blake hopped on a plane for a belated honeymoon.

Immediately after the Met gala, Blake and Ryan jetted off to Cannes and stole the show on the red carpet again, cementing their place as one of Hollywood’s best dressed couples.

Later in 2014, Blake increased the power-couple’s enviability by revealing that “We’ve never gone a week without seeing each other. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would.”

In January, it was announced that Blake had given birth the previous month, and that they had taken some time out of the public eye with their newborn daughter James Reynolds, named after Ryan’s late father.

Ryan justified their daughter’s traditionally masculine name, saying: “In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we’re not really breaking any new ground here. I mean, I didn’t call her Summer Squash Meadow Lark, or something.”

In December, Ryan posted this adorable present that Blake got him for Christmas – a felt figurine of Deadpool riding a unicorn.

In 2016, Blake and Ryan beamed as they arrived at the State Dinner at the White House, looking (if it’s even possible) even happier than when we last saw them.

The next month, in April, they revealed why, announcing their second pregnancy when pictures of Blake’s bump surfaced from the set of The Shallows.
