The Imitation Game star Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, actress/director Sophie Hunter, are now proud parents to a baby boy!
This is the couple’s first child together, arriving four months after Benedict and Sophie tied the knot on Valentine’s Day this year.
“Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son,” said a representative for the couple in a statement provided to People on Saturday.
“We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”
Benedict, 38, and Sophie, 37, met on the set of the 2009 film Burlesque Fairytales and got married in a private ceremony on the Isle of Wight in February. The venue was a medieval church in Mottistone, and celebrity guests in attendance included The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston and Outlander‘s Tobias Menzies.
The happy news comes shortly after the actor was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for 2015, for his services to charity and the performing arts.
