Sophie Hunter is pregnant with the couple’s second child and its great news for the pair.
E! News reports a rep for the actor confirmed the announcement in a statement, and said “everyone is absolutely thrilled.”
Benedict, 38, and Sophie, 37, met on the set of the 2009 film Burlesque Fairytales and were married in a private ceremony on the Isle of Wight on Valentine’s Day, 2015.
The venue was a medieval church in Mottistone, and celebrity guests in attendance included The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston and Outlander’s Tobias Menzies.
The happy couple celebrated the arrival of their first child Christopher “Kit” Carlton Cumberbatch just four months later.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Benedict Cumberbatch said having a child had helped him come to terms with parenting on a much deeper level.
“Having a baby – it’s massive. And on a very unexpected level. Suddenly I understood my parents much more profoundly than I ever had before.”
