The budding romance between Jordan Mauger and his chosen bachelorette, Fleur Verhoeven, came to a shocking end last night as the blonde beauty revealed he had chosen to break up with her – just days after the Bachelor finale aired.

Now, Jordan is opening up about the reason behind the split in an official statement, revealing he had difficulty translating their ‘showmance’ into the real world.

“Fleur is a remarkable woman. There is no doubt about that. What I have struggled with is interpreting my feelings from the show to the real world.

“For the last 7 weeks, Fleur and myself shared concerns and doubts over that time. Hoping that feelings would reignite again,” he said.

The pair’s romance was conducted in front of the cameras on this season of The Bachelor.

“With contributing factors like distance, media, remaining episodes, secrecy, it made it very difficult.

“After a long absence and only seeing her for the first time onstage, I knew something was amiss.

“After an exhausting schedule of media commitments and the dust settled. I knew I was being dishonest to Fleur and myself.

“It is only fair Fleur is with someone who can give her the best and give her the commitment and love she deserves.

“It is a great shame the feelings I had on the show haven’t translated into real life,” he continued.

Jordan has revealed he “struggled” to take his feelings from the show into the real world.

“I know Fleur will go on to do great things. Her talents and caring nature will put her in a great position for anything she decides to do. She will always have my full support and I care for her greatly.”

Last night, Fleur appeared on TV3’s Story to confess that Jordan had blindsided her with the dumping.

“I had really hoped that we could start fresh. Start over and get to know each other. I was quite surprised to hear he doesn’t want to give it a chance,” she said.

Jordan chose the 26-year-old blonde beauty over runner-up Naz Khanjani in the finale episode of The Bachelor New Zealand that aired on Monday, gifting her a massive silver sparkler from Michael Hill in the process.

The breakup comes on the heels of runner-up Naz’s revelations that she slept with Jordan “more than once” during their overnight date.

However, the Iranian-born landscaper’s reported ex-boyfriend (also named Jordan) has since come forward, claiming that Naz told him she had never slept with Jordan and she was “not that into him”.
