Artist creates poster of all the celebrities who died in 2016

This is heartbreaking.

With the recent deaths of George Michael and Carrie Fisher, there’s no denying 2016 has been one of great loss.

British artist Chris Barker has created an incredible – and poignant – work, using the iconic cover art from Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles, that reflects on all those who have died this year.

Barker began working on the piece on the day of the US election and posted it online in November. He updated it in the past few days, sadly adding Michael and Fisher to the crowd.

On his blog, christhebarker.tumblr.com, Barker wrote about what inspired him.

“Initially I was going to have Bowie in the centre and everything else orbiting around him but then I found the full length shot of Bowie that you see on the final piece and it looked so Sgt Pepper I thought I might as well go with that idea.”

One of those featured in the image is murdered UK MP Jo Cox. Barker has asked anyone who likes the artwork to donate to the Jo Cox Meorial Fund as a tribute.
