Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt

The actress has said she ended the marriage of two years for the "health of her family".

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are divorcing after two years of marriage.
Jolie's lawyer confirmed the star has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt citing "irreconcilable differences", and for "the health of her family".
Robert Offer said she filed for "dissolution of marriage" on Monday.
"She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," Offer added in a statement.
Pitt, 52, released a statement to Dailymail.com saying: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
The pair, who began dating 12 years ago after meeting on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith, are parents to six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, who are adopted, and biological children Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
It's understood Jolie is seeking custody of the children, and will grant Pitt visitation rights.
Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston, while Jolie has been married twice before, to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
A source close to the couple told TMZ that Jolie, 41, made the decision end the marriage because of the way "Brad was parenting the children," adding that "she was extremely upset with his methods".
That source claims Jolie was fed up with Pitt's consumption of "weed and possibly alcohol" mixed with his "anger problem".
People spoke with a source who claims that the couple's fights got so bad over the past year that Pitt would flee to France.
"Brad has always been stricter. He has wanted the kids to have more structure. Brad will get frustrated sometimes and yell at the kids. Angelina always had a more relaxed attitude when it came to the kids. She definitely never yells," the source told the magazine.
However another tabloid paper, Page Six claims the split has come after Jolie discovered her husband was having an affair with his French co-star, Marion Cotillard.
The pair have filmed Allied together, where the movie's producer called their chemistry "electric".
It's understood Jolie will have custody of the couple's six children.
Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt on the set of Allied.
'Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric,' Graham King told People Magazine back in August.
The 40-year-old French star is in a relationship with fellow actor Guillaume Canet, 43, and is said to be hurt by the rumours.
‘Marion and Guillaume are blissfully happy, and these kind of claims are not what Marion wants to be hearing,’ said a source close to Marion’s family in her home city of Paris.
‘Claims that she’s cheating on Guillaume with Brad will leave her absolutely devastated. This doesn’t sound like her at all.’
Jolie and Pitt were last seen on the red carpet together last November while promoting their film, By The Sea.
