Is the love story over for Hollywood sweethearts Johnny Depp and Amber Heard?

According to TMZ, Amber, 30, has filed for divorce from Johnny, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause. The media outlet reports that Amber filed her petition on Monday, days after Johnny’s mother passed away. The couple allegedly had no prenup in place when they tied the knot last year, and Amber is said to be seeking spousal support.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Johnny filed his own papers on Wednesday asking the judge to reject Amber’s request for maintenance.

Johnny and Amber met in 2010 on the set of the movie The Rum Diary, where she played his on-screen love interest. In 2012, Johnny split up with his long-time partner Vanessa Paradis, and he and Amber struck up a romance later that year.

The couple officially tied the knot with a private ceremony in Los Angeles in February 2015, before celebrating their union with a much bigger ceremony on Johnny’s private island in the Bahamas.

Johnny, 52, has been open about his admiration for his gorgeous wife in the past, telling The Mirror that he was amazed by Amber’s intelligence.

“One of the first times I sat down with her I was astonished at how smart she is. There’s a really strong, brilliant woman in there who has a lot to say,” he said.

While Amber described herself as “fiercely independent” in an interview with Elle last year, she also gushed over her movie star beau.

“I fall in love again and again,” she said of Johnny, adding that there was no “dramatic change” after they got hitched because they had been together for so long.

“It’s been a fairly organic process,” she said.

Most recently, the couple landed in hot water after failing to declare their dogs Pistol and Boo during a trip to Australia while Johnny was filming the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Australia’s deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce, went on record saying that the dogs had to be transported back to California or they would be euthanised, and the pair were eventually charged with illegal smuggling over the incident.

Johnny and Amber later released a bizarre video apologising for their behaviour, which quickly went viral online after viewers began poking fun at the pair’s stilted behaviour and heavily scripted lines.
