If there’s one thing fans can look forward to at Adele’s live shows (aside from her flawless vocals, of course) it’s the chart-topping singer’s famed candidness with her audience.
At previous concert dates on her world tour, the ‘Hello’ songstress has helped orchestrate a Leap Day proposal for a fan, brought another newly engaged couple on stage to celebrate and even showed off her twerking abilities.
Now, Adele has hit headlines yet again after revealing one side-effect of her first pregnancy – a beard!
While on stage in Glasgow on Friday, Adele – who gave birth to son Angelo in October 2012 – said: “When I got pregnant I had so much testosterone in me that I grew a beard.
“I only cropped it last night,” she continued. “It’s actually true. I’m not telling a joke. I actually have a beard, but I’m proud of it. I call it Larry.”

The singer also jokingly offered up an apology to anyone who had seen her legs, explaining: “If anyone gets a glimpse of my really hairy legs, I’m really sorry, but I’ve got a weekend off so no need to shave my legs.”
However, at her London show earlier this month, Adele made time to address a more serious subject. Speaking about the pressure on mothers to breastfeed, the singer delivered an impassioned plea urging women to do what was best for them, revealing she had only been able to breastfeed Angelo for nine weeks.
“All these people who put pressure on us, you can go f—k yourselves,” she said.
“It’s hard. Some of us can’t do it – I managed about nine weeks with my boobs, and I trip over them.
“All I wanted to do was breastfeed my kid and then I couldn’t and I felt like, ‘If I was in the jungle now back in the day, my kid would be dead because my milk’s gone.’ Imagine how that makes me feel. It’s not funny,” she added, according to Billboard.
Adele’s comments come after chef Jamie Oliver was slammed for wading into the breastfeeding debate. The 40-year-old, who recently announced he and wife Jools were expecting their fifth child together, appeared on a British radio show earlier this month and spoke about the need to “support the women of Britain to breastfeed more, anywhere they want to.”
However, the cookbook author and culinary TV star got himself into hot water by implying breastfeeding was simple, telling the hosts, “It’s something that’s very natural to us – it’s easy, it’s more convenient, it’s more nutritious, it’s better, it’s free”.
Jamie later clarified his original comments on Twitter, explaining that he had never meant to cause offence.
“I understand that breastfeeding is often not easy and in some cases not even possible but just wanted to support women who DO want to breastfeed and make it easier for them to do so,” he wrote.
“As a father – and father-to-be – I would never wish to offend women or mums as I know how incredible they are and I would get a kicking when I got home!”
