Kiwi fans are eagerly anticipating Adele’s shows later this month, but when the celebrated British songstress hits the stage here in Auckland, there’ll be one major difference to her set.

During a Perth show this week, the ‘Hello’ hitmaker revealed that she had been devastated when debris from a firework ended up in her son Angelo’s eye during dress rehearsals.

As a result, Adele revealed she had made the decision to get rid of all pyrotechnics elements from the rest of her gigs.

“We’ve been rehearsing here and p until last night we had fireworks for you,” the candid songstress told fans during the first show of her stadium tour on Tuesday.

“And obviously everyone likes a fireworks display. However, my son was watching in the crowd … there wasn’t much of a crowd, there was like five people. A bit of debris – it wasn’t big – but a bit of s–t went in his eye and he was very upset, so I got rid of the fireworks.”

The Grammy-winning artist welcomed Angelo – her son with husband Simon Konecki – in October 2012, and since becoming a mother, Adele has been very open about how her life has changed.

During a press conference at the Grammys, the 28-year-old told OK! magazine that she was raising Angelo to have respect for women.

“I’m raising him to respect women. He knows I’m a powerful force,” she explained.

“He feels it at home, let alone when he comes to work with me. And he comes everywhere with me anyway!”

Adele is playing three shows at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on March 23, 25 and 26 as part of her Live 2017 tour. The singer will finish up her globetrotting tour with four sold-out concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium later this year.
