Morning routine

The first thing I do when I get up is down a cup of apple cider vinegar and water. It’s a shock to the system but it leaves me feeling clear for the day ahead.

I then shower, and wash my hair with Kevin Murphy ‘Hydrate Me’ shampoo and conditioner.

On my body I use Trilogy ‘Exfoliating Body Wash’ and Trilogy ‘Exfoliating Body Balm’ which is my absolute favorite product. It leaves your skin feeling so smooth and hydrated.

After showering, I slather on creams. The face gets a hit of Herb Farm ‘Rosehip Face Cream’, and the bod’ gets whatever oil I have on hand mixed with whatever essential oil I’m feeling at the time.

I sometimes use a homemade lavender essential oil my mum and I make every now and again with our alembic distiller! Pretty amazing and it’s so much stronger than the stuff you can buy.

Hair & Makeup

My daily makeup starts with a base. I use Chanel ‘Vitalumiere 30’ foundation and Revlon ‘Age-defying’ concealer in medium. I then contour with a Smashbox ‘step-by-step contour kit’.

Filling in the eyebrows is a must, at the moment I’m using a MAC eyeshadow and an angled brush. I might use some MAC ‘painterly’ on my eyes and then it’s a double dose of MAC ‘In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash’ mascara.

If I’m feeling drained I’ll add some color to my cheeks with MAC ‘crème blend blush’ in posey. Then I spritz on my AMAZING perfume Nasomatto ‘Narcotic Venus’ that I treated myself to from World.

After drying my hair, I’m basically done and out the door. Did I tell you I’m low-maintenance?!

For touch-ups during the day, I always carry some paw-paw ointment for my lips and MAC ‘mineral skin finish’ to powder my nose if necessary (it always is but I don’t always care!)

If I’m out-and-about and need to glam-up my look for the evening, I chuck on a MAC lippy. Occasionally I’ll switch out my sneakers for some heels, but not often.

For nights out and fancy events, I’ll wash and blow dry my hair to attempt to put some body into it – but it’s so heavy and straight!

My evening makeup is basically the same as my day-look, with the addition of whatever MAC eye shadow I’m into at the moment and some liquid eyeliner.

Evening routine

In the evenings I take the day off with a warm flannel and Herb Farm ‘softening cleanser’, along with another dose of oils.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve simplified my beauty routine and identified the products that work with my skin. I like to keep it basic.

For some luxury pampering, nothing beats East Day Spa for a facial or massage. I love to get manicures at Pampered Bar in Grey Lynn, the girls there are so welcoming, they’re like long lost buddies – I never get round to going as often as I should though.

I get my hair done at Servilles in Takapuna by Caleb, he’s amazing. It was him who gave me the big chop – and I’ve never looked back!
