Amid celebrations for the launch of Benefit’s brand spanking new brow collection, Global Brow Expert Jared Bailey chatted to us about trends, tips, tricks and his celebrity brow crushes.
Why are groomed brows so important?
It’s the simplest and most important thing any woman can do to open up the eye area and add an instant lift to their overall look.
What’s the biggest mistake we can make with our brows?
At any age, we want brows to look natural and not over manicured. Remember, your brows are sisters not twins, they should not look identical to one another.
You always want to maintain your natural arch – the best way to do this is to only tweeze hairs beneath the brow line, instead of along the top of the brow. For a natural look, fill in brows with products that match the base of your natural hair color. Avoid using a pencil to draw any hard lines across the top of your brow line, which should look slightly soft and fuzzy.
Don’t be afraid to go a shade or two darker than the darkest shade of your hair to instantly frame your eye. The deeper shade of brow filler will immediately draw attention to your arch and give you an instant eye lift.

Gigi Hadid, she always has a nice effortless look to her brows that screams, “I woke up like this.” Amal Clooney because no matter the situation her brows are always as polished and put together as her outfit choices. Any fabulous tips and brow rules-to-live-by to share?
Your best ‘tool’ is to find a brow expert! Let a professional brow artist create the perfect shape and you can maintain it between visits.
Get a great set of tools. A top quality brow brush and tweezers will last you at least a year and are worth every penny. You can’t tweeze what your tweezers can’t grab! Speaking of tweezers, try to stick to tweezing strays only! The closer you get to the brow line the more room for error. We call it the ‘no zone,’ leave the actual shaping to the pros!
For filling in sparse areas, use a combination of two different textures of brow products – like wax, powder, pencil and gel. This gives a natural layered effect (like highlights in your hair) that keeps your brows from looking drawn on.
