Natural DIY face masks from our Green Goddess

Green Goddess natural face masks

After a long, dry summer, it’s time to give your face a much-needed treat. Here are some ideas for natural, do-it-yourself face masks from our Green Goddess Wendyl Nissan. Not only are they great for your skin, they’re great for your wallet too!

Avocado

Avocado: Simply mash one up and spread it on. It nourishes sensitive and dry skin and is a great way to use up an old, squishy avocado. Leave it on as long as you like, then rinse off. Alternatively, mix 4 tbsp avocado, 2 tsp honey and 8 drops cider vinegar together. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse off.

Banana

Banana: Mash one up with a little honey and smear it on. This is a great cleansing mask if your skin is feeling a little lifeless. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse off. Robin Hearfield / bauersyndication.com.au

Oats

Oats: In my opinion, oats are the best things for skin. This mask leaves your face incredibly soft and when you rinse it off into the bath, it makes the rest of your body soft too. Oats are great for treating dry, itchy skin. Mix 1 egg, ½ cup cooked oatmeal (leftover from breakfast) and 1 tsp olive oil together. Spread on your face and leave for 15 minutes. You can also combine these with a little unsweetened natural yoghurt for a luxury face mask. You won’t regret it. Jason Hamilton / bauersyndication.com.au

Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise: If you’re in a hurry, simply grab a jar of mayonnaise from the fridge and put it on as a mask. It contains egg yolks, vinegar and oil – all great conditioners for the face. Rob Shaw / bauersyndication.com.au

Tahini

Tahini: If you make a lot of hummus, you’ll have a jar of tahini in the fridge. Use some as a mask and feel how soft and moisturised your skin is. ACP Photographic / bauersyndication.com.au
