Best buys for that summer glow

Claudia Renford showcases beauty buys that will help create a bright, summery glow.

THE ART OF SCENT

Feminine, floral, soft and sensual are words that best describe the hot fragrances for summer 2015. However, we are no longer choosing signature scents on aroma alone – we’re also coveting the ornate bottles that look like pretty, sculptured pieces of art. Far from hiding in the bathroom cabinet, these beauties are out on display.

Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum, 30ml, $120, Montblanc Lady Emblem, 30ml, $70, Chloé Eau de Toilette, 30ml, $89, Valeur Absolue Vitalité, 45ml, $115.

SPRING’S FRESH BLUSH

Love a little lux for less? Bourjois, one of the world’s oldest and most affordable cosmetic brands, has hit New Zealand. Famous for their little pastel blush pots with a rose and vanilla scent, this cult classic is available to Kiwis in time to pretty up spring.

CURLS ARE BACK

There’s nothing quite like lovely bouncy curls during the warmer months. “The most beautiful curls have shine and definition, but still look natural,” says hairstylist Kevin Murphy.

  • Kevin Murphy Killer Curls, $70. For medium to coarse wavy hair, this has fruit extracts to strengthen and moisturise.

  • Joico Curl Refreshed Reanimating Mist, $34. Perfect handbag size for girls who want style on the go – use to reactivate curls between washes.

  • Kérastase Résistance Masque Thérapiste, $67. Treat from the core with a mask designed to leaves tresses revitalised and stronger, with more bounce.

CURB CELLULITE

Wouldn’t it be great if we could rub away cellulite? We might not be there yet but beauty companies are getting close. Mia Calnea CeluStoper ProEffect, $22, reduces the visible signs of cellulite by exfoliating while stimulating blood flow. Use on wet skin in a circular motion with your anti-cellulite cream.

SUPER SKIN

If you love your skincare products but feel they could be a little more potent, Elizabeth Arden has come to the rescue. Superstart Skin Renewal Booster, $107, is designed to improve the effectiveness of your serum and moisturiser by strengthening and hydrating the skin’s outer layer. Apply after cleansing and toning, but before your serum.
