3 ways to feel relaxed and renewed

Feeling run down? These three tips will help you feel brand new in no time.

Feeling frazzled and burnt out is, unfortunately, an unavoidable part of life.

From stressful jobs and relationship woes to demanding children and household admin, conflicting requests for our attention can cause us to feel depleted and in need of a serious pick-me-up.

To help, the team at Now To Love compiled their favourite ways to recharge and rejuvenate themselves so they feel calm, happy and restored - perhaps these will work for you.

1) Pamper yourself and relax

We all enjoy a good massage or pampering session, but how many of us actually do it? Invest in yourself and get a long massage - or create a relaxing environment at home.

Light a candle, run a bubble bath, play some rain forest sounds and pop on a rejuvenating face mask - good for the soul and for your skin!

To ensure your skin is renewed while you relax, be sure to cleanse your skin first. Elizabeth Arden has a great cleanser for this as it renews and rejuvenates without drying your skin out.

The new Superstart Probiotic Cleanser - Whip to Clay - begins as a whipped mousse then transforms into a mineral-rich clay, and removes dirt and make-up so your mask can do its job efficiently.

If you're unsure which mask to use, try a sheet mask. At Now To Love we are really enjoying Elizabeth Arden's new luxurious Superstart Probiotic Boost Skin Renewal Biocellulose Mask.

The mask feels like a second skin and uses probiotics and rich botanicals to help treat and restore your skin. Post-mask your skin feels and looks radiant and renewed.

After your relaxing bath and mask, apply Elizabeth Arden's Superstart Skin Renewal Booster. This will give your face an additional boost. The booster helps encourage your skin's natural defenses and ability to renew itself, so it looks healthy and fresh. Win-win.

You can use this in your day-to-day skincare routine too (before your serum or moisturiser), so your face consistently looks glowing.

2) Socialise with positive people

Spending quality time with those who make you happy is a great way to feel renewed - especially if you've been pulling away and isolating yourself.

It may be tricky at first, but reaching out to friends, family or your partner for a coffee catch up can be highly beneficial for your mental health.

Coffee not your thing? Ask your friends over for a meal and ask them to bring the wine. Maybe you need distracting from a problem you've been ruminating on or perhaps you need to open up and get things off your chest, either way, spending time with people who listen and make you happy is a great way to let go of stressors and feel refreshed.

However, keep in mind that stress and moods are contagious, and spending time with people that drain your energy or bring you down (consciously or otherwise) can negatively affect you. So if you've been holding on to a friendship or relationship turned bad, cut your ties and invest time with others who love and support you.

3) Turn off your phone and spend the day however you want

Don't confuse turning off your phone for a little 'me time' with isolating yourself, a little tech-detox is extremely good for you.

In today's tech-addicted age, it can be hard to escape ostentatious social media pictures and constant emails and messages, which put a lot of pressure for us to always be 'on'.

This is why it's important to switch off every now and then and spend some time not worrying about the online world.

Try this: turn your phone off on a Friday night at home. Go to sleep and wake up when your body is ready - have a lazy sleep in and enjoy a hearty breakfast and good cup of coffee.

Then spend the day exactly how you want.

Go to the movies by yourself and watch that foreign film you've been dying to see but no one would go with you, read a magazine from cover to cover while drinking tea and eating biscuits - or doughnuts, your choice!

Why not take a day trip to the beach or go on a walk in nature and simply be? Listen to the sounds of ocean waves or local birds and sit quietly, let your mind go blank and enjoy being present.

You could also: spend time with your pet, get your hair done, learn to meditate, write in your journal, print some photos and put them in an album, go to a dance class, do a crossword puzzle or plan your next holiday - whatever feeds your soul.

Our top tip: don't turn off your phone for a day with the intention of telling everyone about it later, genuinely enjoy your quiet and alone time.

We can guarantee you'll feel refreshed, renewed and full of energy the next day.
