The best farmers’ markets in Christchurch

It may be the end of the long weekends for a while but these wholesome markets in the garden city will help make the weekend feel just as relaxing and rejuvenating.

New Zealand’s oldest city, and the world’s gateway to the antarctic has more to it than just stunning scenery. There are plenty of farmer’s markets here, each as delicious and fresh as the next.

Held on the historic grounds of Riccarton House, this market is all about quality produce and meaningful shopping.

The organizers ensure the producers are at each stall in-person so they are there to talk about what they have grown or baked.

You may not want to know how much sugar has gone into those jam and cream packed donuts or gourmet hot chocolate, but this does come in handy when sampling artisan wine and beers – and hunting down the freshest in-season vegetables.
