Mum writes touching letter to her ex partner

This is the diaper-bag-wearing, chocolate-milk-making, selfless, protective, generous, accomplished FATHER to my son.

Ending a relationship is always hard.

But things are more complicated still when children are involved, and parents have a need to work together to ensure their well-being.

For mother Jessica Singleton, this was what prompted her to write a touching thank you message to her former partner, Jon Megason, telling him what a good father he is.

In a heartwarming Facebook post, Jessica writes that her ex is more “valuable than gold” due to the fact that, although they are separated, he still supports and provides for his family, putting their differences aside.

Listing good deeds such as purchasing kids clothes, dropping off nappies and taking his son our when he can see mum is overworked and under rested, Jessica says her ex even accompanies her to meet people from Craigslist (US trademe) to make sure they’re not creeps.

And while Jessica acknowledges that “the amount of obstacles we’ve had to overcome to get to this point are tremendous,” she encourages other parents to come together “stop giving excuses” and make it work for the sake of the kids.

“In case I haven’t told you lately,” she writes to her ex. “I’m grateful for you. Most importantly for the motivated individual you are and how you provide Pierson with a phenomenal role model despite the foundation you once had. I love the amount of love my son will always have from you.”

Alongside the post, Jessica shares a collage of her ex with her son Pierson.

Facebook users are now trying to get the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, to celebrate this co-parenting power couple.

Earlier this week, Ben Affleck praised his ex wife and co-parent Jennifer Garner, who was helping support him as he undergoes treatment for alcoholism.

“I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery,” he said in a statement.
