With more than 100 million Instagram followers, Kim Kardashian West is queen of social media, but when it comes to her kids using it, she’s a lot more circumspect.

“I’m terrified,” the 36-year-old reality star said when describing how she felt about her own kids using social media, on The View. “I think that social media is one of the most important tools if you’re building a brand … and just to share your life, I think it’s really fun. But I didn’t grow up in a world of social media.”

Kardashian West told The View she was so wary about the role social media could play in the lives of her children, Saint, 18 months, and North, 4, that she has been to see a psychologist in New York to get some parenting “tips and tricks that we can use at home” around setting limitations.

“My kids are a little too young to want it now, but I think it’s so important,” she says of monitoring social media use. “It’s about boundaries. At home, I don’t have my phone. Dinner time, breakfast time, there’s no phone.”

Kim revealed that when she grew up TV time was monitored, as well as the amount of time she was allowed to spend talking on the phone.

“Kids should not be falling asleep with their cell phones.”
