Pete and Manu’s simple guide to spring entertaining

The My Kitchen Rules judges share their tips for throwing a dinner party.

Manu:

One thing we always tell people is good food doesn’t have to be complicated. Pete and I go around to a lot of different parts of Australia and New Zealand and all we want is oysters. That alone is fantastic. The seafood is so amazing here in New Zealand, you don’t have to do much to it.

Pete:

And it doesn’t have to travel far either – you’ve got water everywhere. I see seafood as being the Kiwi staple. Go for a simple piece of fish that’s grilled, some lemon, and a salad of some sort.

Manu:

A ceviche or something is good to start with. Choose something you can prep in advance so you can spend more time with your friends and family when they arrive.

Pete:

Yes, seafood is the best fast food in the world. You just can’t go wrong with it.

Manu:

But stick to a recipe you know! It happens on the show, [we say] ‘Is it your first time making this?’ Yes? Hmmm… okay great, that’s a good idea…

Pete:

Or how about getting the guests to each bring a plate of food – my wife’s doing that tonight with friends. That makes your life so much easier.
