Sparkling water has long been our day drink of choice – especially with a little dash of lime or a slice of lemon.

But did you know that it’s actually got several other ingenious uses you’ve probably never tried?

From cleaning your jewellery to removing rust – here are five ways to use your sparkling water for other means.

Removing Rust

The carbonation in sparkling water is the perfect way to loosen rusty nuts and bolts. Simply soak the rusty area in sparkling water for 5 minutes, then it should come away with ease.

Cleaning your windshield

Sometimes the old soap and water trick just won’t do the job. Give your windshield a quick once over with some sparkling water for an extra squeaky clean.

Removing difficult stains

According to the experts, the key to stain removal from fabrics is adding a little sparkling water to the item as soon as the stain appears, rub the area with the water and this will make it much easier to remove later. You can do this before it goes in the washer, too.

Undoing green hair

Blondies listen up. If you’re a fan of swimming but get that tell-tale green tinge after using the swimming pool, sparkling water is the answer. Give your hair a rinse in the stuff after your swim and you’ll have it back to health once more.

Cleaning diamonds

Put a small bowl of sparkling water into the microwave and heat for a few seconds. This will increase the carbonation in the bubbles, which will then help clean your diamonds. Drop jewellery in the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes, before cleaning with a cloth or soft toothbrush. Rinse, and then pat dry for sparkly gems once more.
