Television builder John “Cocksy” Cocks has been given two years to live after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The star of shows including My House, My Castle was diagnosed with kidney cancer a year ago, but the disease has now spread to his lungs and spine.
The 50-year-old went to the doctors when he found blood in his urine. He has since had one of his kidneys removed, NZME reported.
Cocks, who has three daughters from his first marriage, Georgia, 22, Ella, 19 and Sophie,18, says he is now trying to live life to the fullest – which includes marrying his partner of two years, Dana Coote.
He says he fears for the people he loves and the grief they must go through when he’s gone.
“Dana is positive, but I know she has moments. My girls are the same. But I say to them, ‘Guys you have to carry on with your life’,” he told NZME.
Cocks first appeared on our screens as a building consultant on reality show April’s Angels alongside host April Ieremia in 1998. He went on to My House, My Castle, Celebrity Treasure Island and went on to become the face of Bunnings Warehouse.
